Accommodation is an essential concern when planning your family vacation. Coastal rental properties are an excellent choice when visiting coastal locations. However, choosing a holiday rental property can be pretty challenging. However, this should not happen if you read this extract. 

Choose A Suitable Location

The property's location is an underestimated yet essential concern when renting a holiday property. Typically, it would help if you considered the following; 

  • The proximity of the rental property to essential amenities such as restaurants and sports bars. Remember, you might need to access these facilities at night.
  • The property's accessibility. Ideally, the property's access roads must be in excellent condition. You might want to avoid holiday rentals in areas prone to traffic jams.
  • When travelling abroad, check the location's crime rates and how locals treat tourists.
  • Given that you are on vacation, the property must be close to the local beaches and other tourist spots. 

Assess The Available Amenities

Once you settle on a specific location, compare the amenities on the available properties. For instance, how many bedrooms does your family need? An ensuite master bedroom is a must-have. The age and gender of your kids should help you determine the extra number of bedrooms required. Remember, you can make maximum use of space by converting the living room into a sleeping space. Your next concern would be the kitchen size and amenities. If you intend to make meals during your stay, consider properties with fully-stocked kitchens. You must also assess the entertainment amenities on the property. For example, if some family members are fitness enthusiasts, consider properties with swimming pools and gyms. Some properties also have amenities like Wi-Fi, cable TV, pool tables and dart boards.  

Evaluate The Rental Conditions

Contact the host and ask for a copy of the rental contract. It should help you establish the holiday home's rental conditions. For instance, what are the check-in and out times? What liabilities does the host accept? For example, will you receive compensation in case of a break-in or fire? What happens if you damage some of the appliances on the property? Most hosts will expect you to repair or replace damaged fixtures and amenities. What conduct should you observe when on the property? Guests must comply with local laws and strata regulations. Therefore, most hosts will restrict illegal activities on the property. They could also prohibit loud parties or using shared amenities at specific times to avoid flouting strata regulations. If you are comfortable with the rental conditions, assess the rental costs and negotiate for a favourable deal.
